So what have we been doing since we last spoke, well does eating fresh seafood, lazing around on the beach and in the pool in the glorious 35 degree heat, sipping Margaritas at the pool bar and watching Megan burn! Sound appealing - well everything apart from the last part anyhow. We leave for Venezuela tomorrow, so I wanted to update you on how gorgeous this Island is. We heard that an area called Pigeon Point was the most beautiful on the Island, so we got our personal chauffeur "Elvis" to drive us up there, and decided to go snorkeling in the nearby Bucoo reef. It is actually right next the airport, kind of strange that the national park, protected beach is right by the airport but I tell no lie - this engulfed everything I had heard about the Caribbean. Fine golden sand, crystal blue, calm warm waters, and a bar of course! So as we were sitting chilling out in the sun, we met a couple of youngsters! Ha can you believe I said youngsters? I must be getting old! Actually most of the people we had met had been couples with children, and the Island itself was quite quiet. Well this couple were from Wales and Norway - strange mix but they were unfortunately stood up by a family for their boat trip. So being the saviors of the day, we said we would go, as it encompassed snorkeling 3 different sites, the coral garden, Nylon Pool, fishing and a BBQ at a nearby Island called No Mans Land… sounded perfect. And the weather was so glorious. So we set off on the speed boat, Megan and I both keeping in the shade as some substantial red parts had started to emerge! The snorkeling I have to say was pretty average - nothing compared to Fiji, but worth trying I suppose. I went under a bit deep and rose with a huge headache which wouldn't shift. What's the best cure for that? Yes getting back on board and the captain giving me a ice cold Carib beer… this was gone in matter of minutes! From that one beer the journey seemed to take an unexpected turn, jumping off the boat at every opportunity and being greeted by another beer every time I got back on, that's what I call service. And Megan even caught a Barracuda, that the captain skinned and gutted and we had it on the BBQ for dinner, along with some Tuna caught as well… mmm now that's what I call fresh fish. No Mans Land was gorgeous, completely free from all civilization, no hotels, no camping - just a few boats, a fire, pure white sand and a very happy Dave. Then it was off to the Nylon Pool, a sand barrier in the middle of the sea, that we stood on and drank rum cocktail that the Captain had provided us with… And that was one Rum cocktail about a liter of rum and a smidgen of Orange Juice! Well on our way, we partied there for a while in the middle of the Caribbean sea drinking rum and listening to Reggae, seriously dangerous! But so much fun…It soon dawned on me that both Megan and Susanna were steaming drunk, mainly when they started dancing around on a moving speedboat! Why fight them when you can join them is what I say…!We also met the Captains daughter, a Hannah Montana wannabee, she was very cheeky and took a shine to Megan and Susanna straight away. While Mikey and I were just getting drunk in the sun. A great day all around finished with an extended visit to Coco Reef, where we crashed the high class swimming pool of the most expensive resort on the Island, Reggae music blaring out, and "don't waste your wine" the favorite song of the moment!. We also got to party with some of the locals who were in the water just nearby, they were all really friendly. The Captain himself was also very laid back, and I would say that he was probably the most pissed out of the lot of us and he was in charge of the boat! Great lifestyle….Sun set on the boat was also gorgeous and really we didn't want to stop, but included within our package was "Sunday School", the locals party from 9pm until late at Buccoo. That update to shortly follow…
