ok..so Thailand done...
after Kuala Lumpar we got an overnight train to Hat Yai, as soon as we got there we left straight away on a bus to Krabi. Hat Yai is literally the transport hub and there is nothing there worth seeing or staying for!
Krabi is ok but we just spent one night there as we wanted to get to the islands. Kho Phi Phi was our first stop- it's been rebuilt since the tsunami destroyed it but it still isnt that nice now. beaches are a bit of a mess and the whoile place just looks like one big building site!
after here we went to Phuket to spoend the night. nice place and we managed to find our way into the swimming pool of this luixury hotel coimplex- really nice infinty pool!! lovely!!
took a flight to Kho Samui- one of those tiny propellor planes! only 1 hour flight and we still got a meal- bit bizarre!! didnt stay in samui as everyone had put us off it, so took a boat staright to Kho Tao- lovely island. had a great time here and met up with 3 mates who we ended up staying with for the next 10 days.
Kho Phangang was next, stayed on this amazing resort with great beaches- most of the pictures in the thailand album were taken at this resort. went to full moon party which was just crazy!! never seen anything so big!!! and had a great night for nos' bday.
after this we powered up to bangkok then straight to chang mai. we return to bangkok after cambodia so will spend more time seeing it then. did the 3 day jungle trek in chang mai, and saw loads of temples- really nice place! the trek was great fun and our guides were a little on the crazy side!!
left chang mai for the thai-laos border and stayed a night. today we got a speedboat for 7 hours down the meakong river!!! so many travel agents and guides had put us off this idea and tried to get us to take the slow boat which takes 2 days. the lonely planet guide even says the boats are prone to 'flipping and disintegrate'!!!! still we gave it a bash and survived! got soaked though as it downpoured and this boat was tiny so very uncomfortable!! still, more fun than a slow boat eh!!!
and that brings us up to date- in Luang Prabang, Laos at the moment.
Hope all's well back home
see you soon
