Due to some very cheap flights courtesy of EasyJet we decided to spend a long weekend in Copenhagen, Denmark. We flew out from London early Friday morning and arrived in Copenhagen around midday. After checking into our hostel we went for an explore around town in the sunny (but very cold) weather. We walked down to Nytorv near the waterfront where we saw the different coloured buildings and canals. We then walked into town where we climbed up the round tower which has a unique spiralling ramp all the way to the top. We got some great views of Copenhagen once we got to the top. We then went for a walk around the Kings Gardens which is a large green space in the city. There we also saw the Rosenberg Castle. We walked back to Nytorv where we started a canal tour taking in Copenhagen from a different angle. After this we were getting a bit peckish and because of the expensive prices in Copenhagen we had some crisps and red wine (courtesy of duty free) in our hotel room before heading out for dinner. We found a cheapish pub around Nytorv where we had a Danish platter which consisted of Herring, salmon, cheese and corn beef.

The next day we headed off to the Carlsberg Brewery/Museum. We got there just after it opened and had a walk around. The self-guided tour was pretty good and had a good level of information. It also houses the world's largest collection of beer bottles at over 20,000. At the end of our tour we got two glasses of beer which we managed to finish before hurrying back into town. We were hurrying so we could climb up the tour at Our Saviours Church which looked very cool with a spiralling staircase on the outside. Unfortunately once we got there we realised it was closed for winter so we had to pass and instead go to the nearby bakery to try some cinnamon scrolls - a Danish institution. We then walked into town where we were meant to start a tour from the town hall. We had another setback though when we couldn't find our guide on account of all the Danes crowded around the town hall. They were there as it was the 40th anniversary of the Queen's coronation. So instead we decided to watch the queen come up and sure enough got to see her a few metres away from us in a carriage. We then defrosted a bit before going for a walk along the waterfront where we saw the Amalienborg Palace, an old citadel, and the famous (although we're not sure why) little mermaid statue. Again because of the expensive prices we had some beers and take away Thai food in our hostel room - not all that Danish but very cheap and very yummy.

The next morning we headed back to the airport and made our way back to London.
