We spent 3 nights in Byron bay bettween the 10-12th of May. Byron is the most eastern point of the australian mainland and a hotspot for surfers, hippys and backpackers almost everyone on the road from Sydney to Cairns will pass through this place and it is easy to see why. We stayed at the "holiday village" backpackers which i would rate at about 5/10 it was good but expensive at $27 per night in fact we upgraded to a apartment at only $30 which was a much better deal than the dorm, the other problem was the charged for bedding, which no other hostel had done so far, so we used are sleeping bags instead. accross the road was cheeky monkey the local club where board shorts, thongs and surfers in general are aloud to go and drink and party. we went out there twice, for one thing its close but also a jug was only $8 and meals bettween $3-6 bargain. the music wasnt suppose to be too great but i liked it! to be continued
