Kruger national park
We set out for our 4 day safari in Kruger on the 17th. We had to be up at 5 to catch our transfer to the park at 6, which arrived bang on time so without any breakfast we left. We did stop a few times however and I was able to get a pepper steak pie and some billtong, it wasnt the breakfast I ever had but one of the meatiest. We arrived around 12 and got picked up by our driver Dan. At the park gate stood a massive bull elephant probaly the biggest one we saw throughout the trip, so that was a good start with ony 4 of the big 5 left to see. We set out (for lunch) in the coolest car ever sort of a converted toyota pickup with raised safari seats in the back. We saw a Kudu and loads of Impala but we didnt stop for photos because as Dan would say "they are the cheapest animals". We arrived for luch which was on one of the larger camps in kruger and ate under the shelter of a sort of hut, which fruit bat roosted in above up which was weird. We set out again toward Setara camp where we where staying nearly 100km away on the way we saw crocodile, giraffe, hippo, baboons and even a leopard, 2 down. We arrived and set up camp, we had a fantastic meal cooked by our camp chef Godsave and got ready for our night drive, on the way to the toilet block dan pointed out a puffadder which was pretty scary as we didnt see it. We asked him if there where a lot on camp his reply was "i dont see them so much but the likleyhood is they are everywhere!" we set out for our night drive which was very cold and we didnt see much except buffalo, 3 down, and the rare African wildcat but it could have been anycat as far as I could see? We got back and went to bed before being awoken early by dan for our morning game drive. We went out but didnt see anything new. We had breakfast which godsave cooked; fried eggs, mutton sausage, chili and curried veg as well as plenty of musli and yogurt. We set out again toward Olifant camp (affricaan for elephant) situated on the oliphant river this time we even saw some lion, 4 down. We arrived and chilled for a bit before going on our bush walk. On the bush walk we saw little except for this massive spider which rob was scared of and a white rhino, all 5, which for me was almost to close for comfort, but the 2 rangers with us had riffles handy so it was all pretty safe. One said he had to use it the week before to keep away this bull elephant that kept charging and following them for a few hours stopping them returing to there jeep. We got back had a good dinner and went to sleep. We awoke to our final day in kruger and set off to aprivate game reserve on the way we saw another rhino, elephants and other stuff. We got there around 2 and had luch before going on a boat trip around the blyde river canyon, the 3rd biggest in the world" but to be honnest the trip was pretty dull though I got some good pictures and saw some big crocs. We finished the trip and headed to our camp for the night. We arived and got shown to our rooms, we each had individual huts with a outside shower and toilet at the back, which was different. We ate drank and went ot bed. For our final day we went for a morning game walk, we didnt see much but found loads of leopard tracks. We then went back for breakfast and set out towards joburg. We had a massive detour around the blyde river cannyon which took forever but eventually and after some good photos passed it and we got back to joburg around 5 in time for dinner!
