Arrived in Hue after 4 hour drive an 1 hr flight! Hue was the capital n home of the Kings of Vietnam until 1945 when Ho Chi Minh declared communism n the last King was overthrown! USA used the palace n Citidel as a main base during the war until 1968 when the Viet Kong broke a 4 day truce on Xmas day n beat them in a battle.following this up with massacring 1000 well thought of locals who they beleived could be sympathisers. Day 2. Bex loved this activity filled day!! After a 7am Breakfast we set off on day boat for 2 hr cruise around the hundreds of small islands. Stopped on one n cycled inland to a hidden village n then trekked up a mountain to see an ancient cave where the Viet Cong hid in during war. 3 days n 2 nights of the most beautiful scenery we've ever seen aboard a Junk that made us feel we were on a James Bond set! Ate so much sea food from Crab n Lobster to Jellyfish salad which Bex loved!! If you come to Vietnam this is a must do trip! Halong bay beautiful as you sail out about 45 miles out in the china sea. It is so quiet, peaceful and no wind so no messing up your hair! Not a problem for dan. I didn't touch the jellyfish salad!!

What a day! Started being taken to see Ho Chi Minh's body,laying in state mausoleum...he is reverered by the people n the experience was very surreal..then onto his palace and house during the war n gardens. Onto temple of Confusiciois from 11th century. After a day of corpses n a water puppet show(thrilling stuff!!) we were ready to eat n spent evening in Old Quarter. Ate at the famous Green Tangerine French restaurant,which is set in a French 1928 colonial house. Ate lobster under orange trees. Walked around old quarter n met lots of very friendly locals.
