Dan and Lu's Travels
It was soooo good to sleep in a bed last night!
Serena took us to the mall this afternoon, we had planned to meet her, Darrell and the girls later at a place nearby and we hadn't 'done' the mall experience yet in America.
People seem to be continuously buying things in this country. Maybe its because many cities (esp newer ones) or the areas around them are set out around retail parks - they are everywhere, and you can't walk around most places, you have to be in a car. So it doesn't feel like you're interacting with some places. You get in a car, drive somewhere and get out and buy something then back in the car. No one walks anywhere; I think you could quite easily not notice where you are in the country and life would be a whirl of four way stops and Wal Mart.....
After looking round the mall (it IS cheap and it DOES make you want to spend) we met Darrell, Serena, Rachel and Olivia in baker Street pub and grill and had fish 'n' chips. This place is an English style pub (as you may have deduced by the name) and it is quite authentic, although the illusion is obviously spoiled by the very polite, very american table serving waitresses!
Dan and I went to a sports bar with Darrell for a couple after eating. This place had pool tables, poker tables, shuffle board and NEON, plus TV screens showing loads of sports.
