Dan and Lu's Travels
Mary used to go to college not far from Sedona and knows it quite well, so as we'd only really passed by it on Wednesday we decided to take a drive up there and go for lunch. Mary, Chris, Dan and I got to the restaurant about 1pm in blistering heat. We got a fantastic table which was on the veranda over looking some of the red rock formations. On Mary's reccomendation we ordered the turkey anti pasta salad, which was delicious, and very cheap.
Sedona is a bit of a colony for new age and psychic people; Mary was telling us over lunch about her experiences with tarot card readers and psychics here. She took us to a couple of shops that had loads of books on every kind of fortune telling and mystic subject you could imagine. It was quite interesting.
A psychic approached Mary and I in one of the shops and was telling us about what she specialises in. The only problem we had, and in retrospect I feel its rather a large one, is that she had lipstick on her teeth. You'd think if she was a psychic she'd know about that and wipe it off, wouldn't you?!!!
We had a look round some of the shops and galleries on the main street while Chris and Mary went for a margharita. There are some art galleries with really interesting pieces, not like the cheesy stuff you usually find in tourist places.
We drove up to one of the lookout points near Sedona airport where we got amazing views of the landscape. The rocks seem to be smouldering.
The lookout point is near one of the supposed 'vortexes'. Apparantly there are quite a few in the area. Not exactly sure what one is but from what i can gather its something to do with energy and forcefields or something - hence the psychic community. Anyway, the one we were near was a neagtive one, so we didn't want to hang around too long! Supposedly there are often problems with planes landing at the airport....!
Went back to Phoenix and went out straight away, to the ASU campus in Tempe, with some of Chris' friends. Had a really good night and got very good pizza at the end of it.
