DAN'S 26TH BIRTHDAY!! Stayed around the house during the day, I made Dan lunch and brought him tea and juice all day! We met Aunty Beryl and Uncle Mikel at Monti's Steakhouse in Tempe, which was built as a hacienda in 1871, one of the first buildings in the area. The steak was delicious. We then went on to a piano bar down the road, which was a really cool place. It was basement bar with a stage that had a 2 pianos back-to-back and a drum kit on it. Two blokes sat at the pianos and they played requests. Each table had napkins with pens on them and the idea was that you write down what you want to hear, wrap up the napkin in a dollar bill and throw it onto stage. Chris told them it was Dan's birthday and the note just stayed on one of the pianos all night. The players were on rotation so each time a new guy sat down he shouted "Hey, its Dan's birthday, and he's come all the way from England!" It statred with this and a few Beatles and Stones songs then got more and more silly. Dan acquired the nickname 'extreme Dan' because he'd come to Arizona in July and was going back to England in time for winter. The final time, a player shouted him up on stage where he had to don a feather boa and dark glasses and do an Elvis impression! They rewarded him with a shot of tequila afterwards though... It was a pretty cool place, great atmosphere and music.
