We went from Bangkok to Koh Tao very quickly as this time Bangkok was very busy and very noisy! (we are getting old!) Koh Tao is an island on the east coast of Thailand and is famed for its scuba diving. We got there on a catamaran. This was interesting! It was very, very choppy and everyone was being sick! It was not a good trip! Soon the choppiness and the smell of sick sent both Danny and I over the edge. We were both sick and then spent the rest of the trip at the back of the catamaran looking at the horizon and getting sprayed with sea water! When we eventually arrived in Koh Tao it was pouring with rain! You just had to be out in it for a minute and you were soaked! We got a taxi to the main town and then found the first place that we saw. There was no way that you could look around or anything without becoming soaked! So we grabbed a room and crashed for a little while whilst we dried off! During this small amount of time Danny's Vietnamese flip flops broke. So much for them being the "Strongest flip flop - no break sir made in Vietnam - The Best!!" Love it! Oh well. The rain eventually dried up and we took this opportunity to have a wander round. The Island was beautiful, if a little grey and if the sun came out it would have been even better! So the pattern went on, although throw in a few ants in the bed and you will get a fuller picture! We managed to wander a little but we could not even hire motorbikes as the flooding got so bad even the local were struggling to get through it. We took this as a sign and left for Koh Samui, in the rain!
This time the trip over was smoother and not as bumpy! No sick this time! PHEW! We arrived in the dry!! We got our transfer to Chaweng (a beach resort - it was supposed to be busy so we thought if it rains there will be things to do!) We found a place to stay that was cheap called 'Cozy Guesthouse' it was great! We then went for lunch and soon realised that everything on this island was quite expensive! b*****! So we found a WIFI restaurant and did some all important uploading and watched a film as the rain had started again! The next day we WIFI'ed again and had a wonder along the beach as it was dry for the first time. Again the island was very beautiful and we wanted to explore but we saw a lot of accidents and the floods so decided against it! It was beautiful though and there was some good surf. Anyway we decided to leave for the west coast as the weather was supposed to be better there.
We left for Krabi the next day via a bus that went onto the ferry to the mainland. Before we could get on the bus we had to wait while a local police officer removed a huge python from the bus... as you do! Apparently it escaped from a box that was on the last journey of the bus. So after that we arrived at Krabi to meet Selina and Carrie (Welsh and a Brit who we traveled with for a while). We arrived and the girls surprised us by picking us up! Yeah! It was so nice to see them! We went to a Guesthouse 40minutes from Krabi Town on a Beach which was good, although our first bungalow had a squat toilet and loads of ants so we asked to move. We spent the next couple of days on the beach, in the sea and drinking Chang with the girls! It was great! We then decided that when the girls moved on again (BOO!!) we would go into the town. We have quite a long to do list! When we got here we arranged a day trip to Koh Phi Phi, this is where 'The Beach' was filmed. Koh Phi Phi was amazing! It was beautiful. The water was blue, the sand was white and the fish were crazy! We did some snorkeling, swimming and soaking up the sun. It was truly beautiful and it was SUNNY!! YEAH! We both had such a good time! We spent one more day in Krabi town and then left for Penang which is an island off the Malaysian east coast.
