We have spent the day wandering around Hanoi after a few hours sleep back at the Win hotel. We grabbed a cyclo (bike with a seat on the front) this morning which are not really suited to big westerners but definitely a lot of fun. It was good not having to worry about traffic and was probably better that we couldn't see what was happening behind us. Our rider was about 60 and he definitely found the going tough, although we didn't negotiate with him so he probably came out a bit better off then he should have.
We went to have a look around the museum district but whenever we got to one it was closed. They seem to shut for a few hours in the middle of the day. We eventually got in to the army museum which was enjoyable. They had a lot of equipment that you could get up close to and climb around. So much closer than our museums back home. Definitely one for the boys who like their toys. We wished that they had more info on how their wars started and about the battles etc but we enjoyed it much the same.
We went to a restaurant recommended by people from our Halong Bay tour but it was nothing special. I am looking forward to sitting at a table soon that I can get my knees under. We had a big argument with the cyclo who dropped us for dins as he tried to double his price when we got off. We told him exactly what we thought. Didn't help his cause that I was tired and grumpy. Prob got a bit more in his face then needed to be. Guess he forgot to factor in the fat Aussies tax.
We are off to see the water puppets tonight. Our friends from the train gave them a good wrap and is apparently quite relaxing with the live music. Sounds like a great way to finish our time in Vietnam. Then off to bed and a 6am departure to head to the plane depot for our final flight to KL.
