We had our taxi driver, Mr James, take us around the south of Phuket today showing us the sights. We saw some amazing beaches and had a swim at Kata Noi Beach. The water was so warm and clear which was refreshing on our hottest day so far.
Our highlight of the day was a ride on an elephant called Honey. She took us up the hill for some amazing views. The rider told us that the elephants are passed from generation to generation and honey's mother was ridden by his grandfather. He never leaves his elephant even to sleep and they form an amazing bond. It's lovely to know that they are not mistreated and loved like a member of the family. The rider was taught by his father but wants his son to stay at school as he only sees his family a few times a year so the line will stop with honey.
Our most amazing experience came after though. We were told to go down and take a photo of the baby elephant who was just 4 months old. We took a few photos then the owner told us to have a pat of her. We of course did and then he told us to start pushing her because she loves to play. Once we starting pushing the little b*****, if u call 1 tonne small, she turned into a puppy. She was wrapping her trunk around our arms and pushing back against us and jumping around. Just looking into her eyes was amazing but sharing a moment like that is something that is a momentous occasion and will never be forgotten.
