Lets take this gig global!!
Heya guys,
Just a quick one for you all. We had an awesome last day in Hoi An. Took it easy at the beach then went to bar with Steve-o and played pool (for free!) for a few hours but the best part was the evening when Lucy had found a little gem of a place earlier in the day. A little restaurant on the waterfront called 19 where a glass of beer was just 3000 VD, to put that into perspective thats about 10p for a 3/4 pint glass!! I know.....its just plain dangerous!!
You literally could get absolutely spanked for less than 2 quid!! But we took it at a leisurely pace and didnt get too carried away. The food was really cheap aswell and probs the best we've had in Vietnam apart from maybe the lunch in Dalat. So Had a really nice evening and it was a shame that we found that place on our last night!
I shall miss Hoi An, I could have stayed there for weeks. Being such a small and friendly place its easy to feel right at home. But we said our goodbyes to Suzie this morning and got our own private mini-bus (you gotta do things in style!! Only joking, it was the cheapest option) to Danang airport stopping off to marvel at the Marble mountains. As soon as you pull up you can see why its renound for its marble, the streets are literally packed with statue shops and all you can hear is the grinding of fresh sculptures in process!!
It was defo worth the stop off tho with some really impressive views and with few footpaths you really feel like you're tackling a mountain...... not the most ideal terrain when you're wearing flip flops!! I spent most of the time either sliding on my backside or swinging from one branch to the next like a little monkey, (though something tells me it probs wasnt quite as agile!!).
After that the internal flight was fine and really quick and now we are back in Saigon and it kinda feels like we've come home as its the first place that we been to more than once! Its been a bit of an emotional few days for some, what with Lucys grandma passing away and us getting ready to say goodbye to Lucy and Vietnam. However things got heavier today when Fi dropped the bombshell that for one reason or another she is gonna miss out Cambodia and head straight to Thailand with Lucy!! Not sure of the exact reason and it took us all a little by surprise so now its just me and steve taking a step back in time and tackling Cambodia.
We leave on the bus tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it but also a tiny bit apprehensive as even though we've heard good things in general the odd horror story still pops up! So fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.
We are heading to Phnom Penh first and as Cambodia is a little backward compared to here in Vietnam I'm not sure what the internet connection maybe like so dont panic if you dont hear from me in the next few days.
Well, once again the gig moves on to a new venue and the usual excitement but also sadness has kicked in. Vietnam has been absolutely amazing and it will be shame to leave. So its 'Than Biet' for the last time.
Off for our 'last supper' now so catch you all soon.
Laters potatas

PS: blimey thats not such a quick one after all! oh well....!
