Lets take this gig global!!
Hello to everyone or as we say here in Vietnam "xin chao"!
Hope all is good wherever you are. You'll be pleased to know that after my last entry in Nha Trang I wasnt lazy and didnt veg all day, instead we managed to pull ourselves together and hired bikes for the arvo and headed off with 2 litres of water in hand!! Was the right decision too as it was the most fun I've had in ages! Bombing it around the busy roads weaving in and out of the obstacles and overtaking and being overtaken, it was quality! The best 50p I've spent here so far.
We made it up to the Long Son Pagoda which was a big let down to be honest. In all the books it goes on about the 'characters' you meet on the steps up and the view but all we met was pestering guides and hawkers and unfortunately parents 'showing off' their disabled children, not pleasant. Just glad it was free admission. The views from the top were obscured by trees aswell so we didnt hang around for too long.
After that we cruised to the Cham towers and they were more impressive. They were constructed in 817 and still to this day (kinda like stonehenge I guess) the people are still trying to figure out how it was possible. The Cham people were very highly civilised and intelligent and retain a somewhat mythical presence here. (admission: 4,500VD)
We got the night bus here to Hoi An on Saturday and managed to sleep most of the way which was cool. So got here by 7am on Sunday morning........
I'll continue the rest of Hoi An on the next update......
