Lets take this gig global!!
Hola amigos!!
How goes it? Well after two very cool days in Dalat we have had another quality couple of days and been pretty busy. We have booked flights to fly back to Saigon from Hoi An and are enjoying Vietnam so much that we are staying a little longer than planned!! It looks like we will be spending at least a couple more weks in Asia!! Its just so cheap and immense!
We arrived safe and sound in Nha Trang after a quick and easy 5 hr bus ride, again taking in the breathtaking scenery on the way.
We sorted out accomodation (another luxury room for the extortionate amount of $5 a night!) and had a wander round on our first arvo here. Its a real happening place with loads of backpackers and the best nightlife so far. Some of the bars are so trendy that you forget that you are actually in Vietnam, it feels more like London or back in Singapore! The beach is also good with white sand and clear water.
Yesterday we ventured off on a boat trip around the neighbouring islands which was a real good day. A few of the people we met in Dalat booked on the same tour and a guy (Harry) we met in Saigon also came along as we bumped into him here in Nha Trang. So it was real good crowd of us and alot of other Vietnamese families and other English, Aussie and Korean peeps. The weather started off pretty lame as it was really cloudy and overcast but within a few hours it had all cleared and once again belting heat prevailed! I think the sea air makes a difference as we are all proper bronzed up today!
It basically involved cruising round four or five of the islands and stopping at each one for a couple of hours at a time. Although we only got to venture onto two of them! The others just involved swimming and snorkelling. Saw some amazingly coloured fish and coral but were told that Thailand is even better for diving so cannee wait for that! Havent got a clue what fish they were but they were generally multi-coloured and some were fairly big! Unfortunately we didnt see any sign of Nemo so the search continues!!
The two crew guys were also intent on getting everyone as pissed as possible ploughing us with local red wine (or poison as it tasted more like!!) and an American girl had brought a big old bottle of Pineapple Rhum so we were fairly merry for most of the day!!
Lunch was amazing with a huge selcetion from pork and beef to shark and squid and the fruit party in the arvo was also cool. But no Jack fruit which we tried in Dalat and was immense! You tear it off in strips like rubber and it tastes like a mixture of pineapple and banana- good stuff! So a good day on the whole.
We continued our drinking exploits well into the wee hours of the morning and am feeling the effects right now!! Typing this with a banging headache and litre of water in hand!! It was our first "real big" night out so its taken its toll! We are gonna chill today on the beach and if we can find the energy maybe hire bikes and ride up to the Pagoda on the hill with good views of the town and coast but the sunbed seems like a better option right now!!
Ok, I'm gonna soak up some more rays and nurse this soar head so catch you all later. We are heading to Hoi An tonight so will update again there.
All the best, Dan
