Lets take this gig global!!
Hello to you all.
After leaving Mumbai (and India) and having an entertaining flight we have been time warped into the future!! I have seen the light and it burns bright in Singapore!! This place is just immense!
It was a culture shock at the other end of the spectrum arriving at the super smart Changi airport and from that point on all expectations of this place have been surpassed by a mile. Its hard to explain the cleanliness and efficiency here and everywhere is neat and modern. Th eonly way to describe it is like walking around a real life 'Sim City 2010'! The whole place just sparkles and everyone is friendy and immensly polite.
We have only had two days here but have had two very hectic days trying to cram as much as poss in and with the super fast MRT system (Tube type thing) its pretty easy to cover loads in a day. We have managed to see the colonial area (where our hostel is) and visit all the street markets (the biggest one in the city is just around the corner in Bugis), do some more shopping (and general walking around with your tongue hanging and eyes popping out!) in Orchard Road, chill out in the Botanical Gardens, Visit Chinatown for some (somewhat interesting) food, take the cable car up Mt Faber for awesome views of the city and then over to Sentosa Island for nature walks in the jungle and scenic tropical wildlife, visit the Zoo (after Andys (Knight) recommendation) which apart from a couple of small enclosures we were mightily impressed with, check out Little India just to compare it to the real thing! and finally relax in the hyper trendy bars in Clarke Quay and the Harbour front.
So as you can imagine we've been pretty busy. But its been much needed to as apart from all the walking aROUND ALL I seem to do here is eat!! The food is phenomenal and unlike India you can eat anything from anywhere without the threat of the dreaded Delhi Belly! We've seriuously been pigging out but my favourite thing so far is the feshly squeezed (blended) fruit juices. I was quite proud to have managed to try Stawberry, Orange, banana, watermelon, Honeydew, Kiwi, passion fuit, papaya, and pineapple oh and a mixed one all in the space of 36 hours! They are the best refreshing thing in this humidity and for only S$1-1.50 you cant go wrong!
We were really gutted to have to leave and wished that we could have had at least one more day but unfortunatley time is again the pressing factor and we are heading to Vietnam (cant wait for that either!) so its au revoir Singapore (I will defo be back) and bonjour Ho Chi Minh!
Well so long as the flight goes smoothly I will try to update soon.
Hope all is well with you all and keep those messages coming (cheers Sarah and J)
