All is going well on our trip around Australia,
we have been working for a few weeks now and have saved up quite a good bit of dollar, which is fantastic because we can now have an amazing time round the rest of Oz without worrying about money too much :)
It's strange to be somewhere now where the landscape is starting to look normal to us, we have even gotten ourselves used to the immense amount of flies that are out here constantly landing on our faces, used to drive us crazy but we are actually getting pretty used to it now.
We have just been in mining towns the last couple of weeks, only 3 days left until we head to Broome just for a couple of days where we will finally be back in a hostel again. We have been camping for the last two weeks and with an inflatable bed that keeps slowly going down and trying to sleep while it's very humid is always a challenge, it will be good to have a proper bed and some air con again (though most probably a fan as still budgeting.
This part of Austrlaia has been pretty stunning though. The landscape is now more mountainous rather than just flat redness, we have been to some gorges and waterholes and even climbed a mountain called Mount Nameless in Tom Price.
Working for the charity has been a good experience because we have had the chance to see the non-tourist aspects of Australia and we have interacted with many Aboriginal communities, a whole other story in itself, we were shocked at how much we didn't know about the aboriginal culture and the history of Australia!
Another bit of exciting news is that last week Daniel raised the most funds out of all the campaigners so we have both been treated to 1 night's accomodation in a hotel in Darwin, and we get to choose where we want to stay! I dont think we can take too many liberties though, we won't choose a 5 star hotel or anything ;) and fay speaks; 'Well done daniel for beating all the campainers' but we will be taking every bit of liberty seeming as i have had to share a stinky hot tent with a smelly male!' It was a team effort from me and dan :P
Hope all is well in the UK,
Keep in touch
Dan & Fay :D
