So today started with a 3am alarm and after getting thru the shower plan we were set for the off!
Met with the group to get the bus to our first stop, breakfast at 6.30 in a remote village then on to the start of the trail!
Going was easy at the start with a few stops at points of interest and some Inca sites. We then went up for a bit before stopping for a slightly overdue lunch as we were all starving!
This was also the first time to get a chat with our 15-strong group. Mainly UK and US folk. All seem really good with a range, one lady from Virginia who is very interesting, a guy doin his MBA at MIT before working for BCG , and a cool girl who cuts patterns for New Look- yes, I have asked to be sent samples to keep Kim's obsession cheap! There is also one girl who is 4.5 months pregnant - good effort.
That leads me to my travel partners who are discussing the mechanics of a successful squat toilet - the pic shows the view from the camp site, but now I'm watching Maddy demonstrate the correct position- apparently a 'wide-legged' stance is best, something you, Maeve, should have taught her before she left!
Anywho, the trek was uphill and tough after lunch but we made it to camp, freshened up and now going for dinner. Will update again soon but the pic is only the tip of the iceberg, this place is amazing and difficult to put into words so I'll update pics soon.
Will be in touch on day two of the honeymoon!
