Ola All!!! So here it is, the first proper entry in the blog!
So-far it has been a lot of security gates, departure lounges, and long journeys. Spent time in Heathrow completing our very important thank'yous to all our friends and family for making this trip more enjoyable and giving us a fantastic wedding day - but THANK YOU again!
When we arrived in Madris we managed to get proper wi-fi that allowed us to download a Spansih-speaking app, just in time for my battery to die! So panic set in when I thought I would not get my Family Guy and Still Game for the journey, but the bus station here in Lima pulled'through and suckin diesel from the pc here.
Eventful departure from Madrid - we were ´upgraded' to business class, only to find our seats were double-booked and the attendant moved the other folk. So annoyed at that, we were then asked to move seats to let a lady put a bed up for her baby (we were near the front so had lots of room anyway). Initially we said no, but Christianity kicked-in from the sermon on Christmas day and we relented, as long as we got both seats.
Anywho, 12hrs later and we are here in the bus station with yet another 4'something hr wait for the bus that will last 21hrs! (Yes guys, I relented in the plane vs bus battle - maybe I´m still in the 'honeymoon' phase and allowing her to win, or, more realistically, I knew I was gonna lose and was too cheap to pay the extra cash! - I have already started equating everything to 'how many days living is that!?!)
I seem to be doing most of the "communicating" (I use that term in the very loosest possible sense) while Kim gets her head around the culture shock. It is warm at 20deg at 9am here and very manic, but the departure lounges and security checks afford great people-watching opportunities so we will continue to drink it all in. I expect two weeks from now it will stop feeling like a holiday and the bricking-it will really commence!
Adios for now!
