Day 07 - Mon 22nd Sept We had a lot of time to kill today due to waiting around to collect our visa's later that afternoon, so we decided to hit Kowloon park. I headed straight for the footie pitch, eager to teach the locals a thing or two but it was empty! We decided to have a little kick around on our own and I hit a 30yard..ok, 20 yard screamer into the top corner. After that moment of brilliance, we decided the heat was too much and headed for a dip in the pool. The pool was just what we needed and after paddling about, we headed for the sun deck to catch some rays and ended up falling asleep for a good hour. Having witness some crazy swimming techniques (the guy seemingly head-butting the water with his arms by his sides was definitely memorable) and fully revitalized, we got changed and picked up our visas. With the entire evening to kill and no plans, we decided a quick trip to Macau (a completely different country) was the best way to kill the time. We boarded the hour long TurboJET ferryferry and arrived in Macao at 7 o'clock, full of life having another stamp on the passport, only to find out that all the tourist attractions closed at 5:00pm.We did have the chance to see the ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral and walked along the sea front to observe the Macau Tower (only later did I learn that it was host to the highest bungee jump in the world, had I known that then, I would have climbed up myself). We only had 4 hours on the island, so I don't think we got the chance to experience the real Macau. Having scratched the surface, it appears to offer very little apart from facilitating the needs of the wealthy with Casino after Casino, luxury hotels and bright neon lights but I'm sure a day visit would have me raving about the island.
