Hello All,
We arrived in Koh Tao very tired and wanting to escape the crowds on the main strip, we went along the coast to peaceful little Shark Bay. We bagged a hut right on the waterfront for 10 quid! We spent two days tanning up and snorkelling around the coral in the bay. We were amazed at how clear the water was and how many fish we could see. Liz was lucky enough to encounter four black tipped reef sharks only 30 metres from shore!! We also got to observe a very cool phenomenon, on our first night. There was phospheresence in the sand all along the bay, it glowed blue when it was distured- so we spent hours that night on the deserted beach playing with the glowy bits! However the snorkelling was just a warm up for the scuba dive we did today. After spending the morning in the swimming pool doing basic training we were shipped out to our dive site where we decended 12m into a undescribable marinescape. We saw so much from stingrays to clownfish, anemones, butterflyfish, sea cucumbers and the list goes on (liz almost pooed herself with excitment)! We were stunned by the diversity of the reef and just how many fish we got to swim with! We hope we get another opportunity to do some more...
We are off to our next island tomorrow,
love and fishy kisses Liz and Dale xxx
