Danny's Summer '06 Study Abroad
We had our 1st class today in the hotel in the morning. After that I went to Notre Dame b/c I wanted to go inside. It was amazing, there are tons of side alters w/ paintings or sculptures that people pray to. I got there at noon so I got to see part of a sermon. The arches along the ceiling are also indescribable. Then I headed towards Hotel de Ville (don't know the history behind it but it's another beautiful building). I got my first baguette over there, and loved it (only .8 E, and it was huge, that was my lunch). Then I had to make it towards the Louvre for our tour. We had a guided tour, which got boring after an hour, but then we were set loose and I stayed w/ a group for like 2 more hours. The Louvre is ginormous and there's no way to see the whole thing in a day. After that I headed over to the Tour Eiffel, we decided to climb the stairs instead of riding the escalator b/c it was 3 E cheaper. We could only get to the 2nd floor, but that was plenty high. What a view from up there. They had markings of all the famous monuments around the top so that's what the labels that I took pictures are. After climbing down the stairs our legs were a little wobbly so we sat down near a ferris wheel and watched a little girl eat cotton candy that was bigger than her head (which ended up on the ground and her crying to her mom, she was happy once she got an ice cream cone to replace it). We went on the Sienne river ride at 10 and got to see the monuments from a different perspective. Unfortunately none of my pictures turned out b/c we were moving and it was night, but I bet you can guess-everything was beautiful (especially the Tour which glitters every hour). As we passed under all the bridges and saw all these amazing buildings (even the apartments are gorgeous) I understand why people say this is the Romance capital. End of the night. We are dead tired and gonna be sore tomorrow.
