A nice leisurely 9am departure this morning and we did a tour around the city of Vienna - a very picturesque place with lots of wide tree lined streets, before we stopped in the centre and did a walking tour with a local guide. It was pretty cold with light rain and as we had done this same tour last time I was very glad when the hour was up and we could find a spot out of the wind to enjoy a hot coffee! After a reasonable sleep we awoke quite early and caught up with all that had happened over the last day and a half via the free hotel WiFi. Met Den and Suze for a very leisurely and extensive buffet brekky at 9am and then walked a short way to the nearest underground station and caught the train into central Vienna. Being the 1st of May it was a public holiday to celebrate May Day and there were many protests groups etc in the main streets, but at least the rest...

Our latest trip got under way at about 5pm when we picked Den and Sue up in the hire car and set off to the Perth Airport.We made excellent time and by just after 7pm we were at the International Departures, having negotiated the major roadworks currently around the airport - thanks to Den sussing it all out earlier in the week.After returning the hire car and gathering up our luggage we checked in for our Qatar Airlines flight to Vienna via Doha, then purchased ...

After a good night and a nice breakfast at the motel, we hit the road to head for the Santa Monica Pier and the end of Route 66! It was only 20 or so kms away but once again traffic jams slowed us to a standstill and it was after 11am before we got there and drove the last leg of the route! Checked out of our motel this morning and made our way downtown and had a great late brekky, then headed to the USS Midway Museum where we spent over 2 hours looking over the huge aircraft carrier! What a fantastic attraction it is - the audio tour was first class and we looked at most of the ship, including the engine room, galleys and much, much more! All this for $20 too!
