Today we set out for the small country of Montenegro a couple of hours drive to the south. With only around 650,000 inhabitants it has a short Adriatic coastline that is a popular destination for cruise ships (over 400 each year visit) and all sorts of smaller craft! Another fine and sunny day here in Dubrovnik as we ate our brekky on the patio overlooking the ocean - what a superb way to start the day! The buffet was enormous (as they all have been) and we are getting very conscious of an expanding waistline! This morning we had another lazy start to the day - the coach didn't leave until 10.15am and after getting our cases ready by the required 9am we sat out on the hotels lovely balcony overlooking the pool and the islands.Our ferry back to the mainland left from the tiny village of Sučuraj which is on the very southern tip of the island about 70 kms from Hvar, and it took nearly 2 hours on some tiny narrow roads to get there! A nice relaxing start to Friday as we boarded the coach to head for Vrboska for some wine and cheese tastings! We followed a very narrow road, winding its way across the hills, several times having to squeeze to the side of the road to let cars and trucks past. The surrounds were mostly the same low scrub and myriads of rocks as we saw yesterday, with the remnants of the terraced, lavender fields clearly visible.
