Last August we caught up with Sue, Gavin and Mitchell in Katherine and we said we would catch up with them again. So hence a new hello.....Sue & Gavin took us and their German house guest, Tania out for a drive down through the Womalah Forest onto the beach. We have a relaxing lunch sitting on the beach, Tania went for a swim. Then heading towards Rainbow Beach, stopping a sections of the Coloured Sands. It was a high tide that was receding, so there wasn't a great deal of beach to drive on. A BBQ for dinner. The next morning we changed tyres around on DABUS and hopefully doing this will get us home.
We moved onto Gympie to catch up with new friends, Helen and Greg, who we had met up at Keith and Wendy's in Darwin. Again we had said our last goodbye to Helen and Greg back on the 3rd July and again a new hello....Helen cooked up a lovely roast chicken dinner and we had a walk around their property.
We love catching up with different people as you pick up on different ideas:
Sue & Gavin have given us the idea of how to put a grey water tank under the bus.......using PVC piping.... A job for Alan on our arrival back home.
Helen & Greg gave us the idea of washing DABUS by putting truck wash into a feed n weed container, hooking up the hose and hosing it onto DABUS before brushing and washing it off. Helen has inspired us to go home and plant more citrus trees up on the hill, her lemons, limes, oranges and mandarins were delicious...And we also know what we are doing with the bathtub at home that have the water lilies in.......Fix the bottom pond and put the bath up on four star pickets, then plant herbs in it....It's a great idea, as no bending over......
And we got our doggy fix with Bear, Roger/Roger, Dennis and Miss Molly......We miss our Jack....
After leaving Gympie we stopped at Kinbombi Falls to have lunch then hike the 228 steps down to the gorge and then a further 31 steps up to another lookout. Great views, the waterfall was not flowing too fast......We then stopped the night at Wondai at the free camp in the middle of town. We found a great nic nac shop and bought an enamal kettle for the choofer. Cooked up a great steak meal on the weber and retired early as it was bloody cold..... A very cold night and up the next morning and headed to the maket which was near the free camp.....
Caught up on some washing then heading off to the local Annual Wandai Show, everything is in walking distance, so our nice clean DABUS (washed at Greg & Helens) got to stay put.....Saturday afternoon was a lazy one.... chilling out watching the V8's racing in Sydney and then as we were parked up opposite the Wondai Hotel we decided to pay the pub a visit for dinner..... good choice as the weather is very cold.... down to 2 degrees overnight....
The next morning another walk around town before heading onto Kingaroy and pulled into the Alwyn Francis Bridge rest area which is 11km from Kingaroy. Again V8's were on for the afternoon then dinner was cooked up on the fire Chicken Saltimbocca with lemon sauce...
Today we slipped back into Kingaroy, got some more firewood and a few supplies before heading back to our campsite. Lunch today is homemade pumpkin soup with freshly baked bread... on the weber.....
