I love London Town.
I've been so excited to get back to the UK which really surprised me. I missed the vibe and the fashion, I missed what it meant to be in London and the London indie scene.
I flew from Porto to London solo and met some of the most amazing people of my trip. An Aussie boy who was contagiously charismatic, he was hilarious and entertaining and yet so clever, witty and intelligent. From the airport I caught a shuttle where I met a boy from Boston who was intimidatingly smart and so interesting to speak to. Both occasions we spoke non stop and both boys ill probably never see again and I love the romance in that.
I arrived at 3 am to my friends house, time met me with a runny nose and watering eyes. He showed me to a mattress set up in his lounge room and headed to bed to rest his cold. I got up around mid day and planned my way to maddies house. A fifteen minute trip took two hours in the rain, an impressive failure on my part.
I spent my time in London catching up with those I've met in my past few months of travels. Tash in particular, we met in Valencia and continued a friendship made up purely of writing to one another. I'm totally infixated by this inspiring girl. I like who I am when I'm a round her and she motivates meto be better. We bounce off each other, brick lane was made for us. We spent time in the vintage emporium cafe which is my sweet indulgent waste of time. We bought for coats and took Polaroids, we looked at street art and browsed record stores, we drank coffee and cider and ate carrot cake. This is what I want life to be.
I had been told to check out the church which is an Aussie day club which runs every Sunday. Maddie, Emily, rach, Munro and I went, I had an absolute ball getting messy and trashy with a bunch of like minded Aussies and poms looking for a good time! I was home by ten and so had the whole next day to enjoy, hang over free!
Munro arrived at maddies door step and we headed to brick lane to meet tash and spend the afternoon in my cafe. Maddie and a friend of tashs met us late afternoon and we took the tube to Hyde park to see the famous winter wonderland carnival! It was so magical, a lot like Oktoberfest actually. But covered in fairy lights with an ice skating rink and little market stalls and traditional English food and mulled wine. We walked around for a while and then headed to a very traditional English pub to have a crabbies cider and try get out as much talking and catching up before tash had to head home to prepare for her flight back to Australia!
It was hard to see her leave as I had missed her in my life and had looked forward to travelling and spending some time with her in the UK. We had planned to head to hogmany together but changes to her plans means I may be attending the Scottish festival one out! All kitted in my fur coat, long skirts, gloves and woollie hats.
I really do enjoy the London life, regardless of many people preconceptions. Londeners are friendly and it may be cold but the fashion makes up for that. I can't wait to be back!
I'm now sitting on a bus, which now seems like home with nine months of bus travel under my belt, heading from London to edinbrugh to meet up with some friends I met at the gspot! A group of three boys; Matt, Diaz and Cealleigh came through the gspot in a whirl wind. I really got along with them and helped them get home by giving ten euros to the charmingly unorganised boys.
