It's mothers day in Australia! It's making me wish that I was at home or even better that mum was over here! Happy mothers day beautiful mother! You are amazing, inspiring, motivating, beautiful, passionate, intelligent; your everything a perfect mum should be and more. I am so lucky to have you and I love you so unconditionally!
Today we went on a wine tour through the Austrian country side! What a great way to spend a rainy day! I, along with about 20 other travelers, went on a bike tour through the vineyards of vienna. It was so much fun apart from the scattered showers and cloudy skies!
We took a train an hour out of the heart of Vienna to the rolling green hills covered in grape vines, we put on our helmets and ponchos and headed off into the country. The ride was about 26 km long and lasted all day. We stopped at two small winery's and tried a few wines! The cool thing about these wines is that they are specific to the hill from which the grapes were picked. So each line of bottled wine is very unique. Even if the soil changes, or the nutrients change from one season to another the name of the wine is changed. It was cool to be one of the only people to taste that wine! The country side was absolutely stunning! We all had a great time we took a packed lunch and a group of us a had a bottle of wine. We then tested some different chocolate and alcohol liqueur. It was a good day and I slept well that night.
Today we went sight seeing through Vienna. It has a lot of history in this city and it was interesting to walk through the castle gardens and city streets. One defining feature of Vienna would have to be the statues; they are everywhere and mostly are of the royal families who lived here years ago. There are countless water fountains and huge white or turquoise statues every where. The buildings are also very similar; they are tall and white, it makes the city look very clean.
Tomorrow we head to Salzburg, which is half way to munich. This will be good because it will break up the bus trip a little!
