A quiet day since we are planning to go to the all-night Carnaval Parade tonight. We just went for a walk this morning to President Vargas Avenue. As we walked along the street, we saw many of the floats for the parade that night being moved to a set-up area. They were partly disassembled to be completed near the Sambodromo, some requiring cranes to assemble. Even so, they appeared huge. Completed, many will be 2 to 3 stories high. First day in Rio de Janeiro. We found a tour in the terminal that covered many of the high points - Christ the Redeemer, Tijuca Forest, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and the main Beaches (Lebron, Ipanema, Copacabana.
