You know girls there are just some things that cannot be rushed or forgotten. Hair appointments are one of these things. I will not leave to see my man without looking my best especially when you are going to woop woop.
I left Gladstone at about 11.40am after getting the best cut and colour yet. It was an easy drive to Alpha. (Great when the speed limit is 110 out here.) I promised Pat that I would not travel at night as the wild life out here is out to get you once the sun goes down. I know this road well as I have repeatedly travelled it for many years and it's looking the best I have seen it in a long time. Green grass and plenty of water.
It was a big day on Friday as I still had 1150km to travel before dark. Once I left Alpha the amount of road kill is phenominal. The kangaroos lying on the road can damage the car if you hit them but the birds are worse as they flock around trying to re-land or change direction while flying away.
I picked up a few groceries like fresh fruit and veg in Cloncurry before heading up to Normanton. My poor little car was already bursting at the seams before adding the groceries.
The road up to the Burk & Wills road house wasn't too bad but once I left it, there were wallabies lining the sides of the road every few metres. I Just turned up the music, put the lights on high beam and watched everything that moved as I drove the last 200 km.
I reached phone signal about 20 km from town so I let Pat know where I was. The sunset was beautiful as I had the sun setting on the left and the moon up on the right. Such a weird feeling to see both out at once so clearly.
Pat and I went out to tea at the Albion Hotel but I forgot to take a jacket. A suprise cold snap and it was freezing.
