It's been quite nice to settle into a daily routine for a change rather than packing up and moving on frequently.
We've had a walk on the beach early most mornings - have seen really low tides, and very high tides over the last week - and then had a few hours of solid school work by the girls online using Mathletics, Literacy Planet, reading some books, and Matilda writing in her journal and posting it into the blog. Their reward is a swim in the pool before lunch, and then some afternoon sightseeing and perhaps a mango smoothie.
We picked up mum on Sunday morning after we'd had a quick flyby of the Courthouse Markets, and as the annual Cable Beach Polo was on, trotted down to the beach for a boogie board and watched the polo (and the VIP shena****ns) from the fringes.
Last night we had a memorable dinner at the Wharf Restaurant down at the port. Whilst it faced away from the sunset, sitting under the frangipani trees looking at the turquoise water and mangroves of the town beach was almost as impressive as the barramundi coconut curry I had. Yummy!
Paul is flying to Perth tonight to prepare his $1000 Toyota Hilux (sight unseen) for the s***box Rally, commencing on Saturday 31st. They stop for a night at Meekathara, onto Marble Bar, and then arrive in Broome next Monday evening with a leisurely morning swim at Cable Beach, then head to Fitzroy Crossing and the Gibb River Rd to Darwin.
The girls, mum and I are planning a few day trips and activities around Broome to keep ourselves amused, and of course, planning Matilda's birthday activities next Saturday when she turns 8.
