Bit overcast and mountains shrouded in cloud. Off on a tour of the city and Sugarloaf Mountain.
While waiting in the foyer we met two Aussie couples doing the same tour, heading to Iguazu on the same flight to Buones Aires and doing the same cruise.
We did the city part of the tour first in the hope that the clouds would burn off Sugarloaf Mountain. We visited a pyramid/cone shaped cathedral and even though it was Good Friday, it was far from crowded. We made other stops to see the Opera House, National Library and Municiple Building.
The cable car to Sugarloaf is in two sections. The first section takes you to 'Morro de Urea' with a spectacular view of the city. The second section takes you the to top of Sugarloaf Mountain, which unfortunately was still shrouded in cloud - so no view . . .
Also on that tour we met another Aussie couple from Port Pierie - he is ex navy - apparently knows two of the guys at the museum, an apparenty visited the museum recently.
After the tour we wandered to Ipanema Beach for a swim and 'people watch'- Ron kept looking for 'the girl' (from Ipanema).
That night we went to a chicken restaurant that had been recommendedad tried some more Brazilian fare - another 'yum' attack . . .
