NOTO, 10th August 2011 This morning Matteo joins Pina, Saro and I for breakfast at Cafe Connavo in Acireale. Granita and Briosche all around. My favourite would have to be Mandola macchiatto con Caffe. (Almond with a dash of Coffee). Destination Calamoscha, A beautiful beach overlooking the Golf of Noto. Here we spent much of the day swimming and sunbaking. Lunch was panini which we bought in Acireale, stuffed with procuitto and provolone cheese. In the afternoon it was time to enjoy some sight seeing and Noto is an interesting town to visit. Here we visit Palazzo Nicola, Palazzo Ducezio, San Francesco and the Cathedral which is dedicated to the patron Saint Santo Nicola. The Cathedral's Dome had colapsed in 1996 and has been totally restored. After some weary walking in this heat we all sat down for a Granita and briosch...I had to choose Peach this time. By the time I leave Sicily I will be Granited out! Wow it was expensive, We paid €5.50 each for a Granita and Brioshe as well as a 22% service charge on top. Over double the price we paid in Acireale. On returning home we joined Zia Graziella for dinner and was also joined by my Zia Carmen and Zio Roberto. All my relatives are trying to book nights out on my last week as they are all interested in meeting my partner Peter. It is a pity that Peter is not here to share what I have already experienced, but there will be plenty more for him to see when he gets here on the 20th August 2011. After Zia Carmen and Zio Roberto left, Saro, Pina and I went to visit an Aunt of his...Zia Mariannina and his cousin Carmen who is a singer and a transexual. Both Mother and Daughter live in Torre Archirafi. That was definetly enough excitement for one day.... Buona Notte.
