Agrigento, Valley of the Temples, 24th August 2011
An early start nd Nuccio and Fiorella take us on an excursion to Agrigento to see "The Valley of the Temples", originally built and colonised by the Greeks.
Here we visit many of the remailing Temples that were built to there Gods. An amazing city was built behind this Acropolis. The Concordia being the best preserved.
After lunch we visit the museum where many artifacts are seen before taking a final stop at the "Scale Delle Turche". This very much reminded me of the limestone cliffs of Parmekale in Turkey.
Our journey home finally arriving at 9.30pm and we join my cousin Rosario and his family for a pizza at "Terra Del Sole". These have to be the best pizzas, Pizz alla Parmegiana with eggplant, mozarella and tomato and Pizza alla Fattoressa with peas, mozarella, proscuitto and tomato ...delicious.
Peter wanted to generously pay for the evening meal, but unfortunately Rosario won hands down in an argument to who was the host, so Peter resigned to the fact it was just better to accept their hospitality and give in.
