Hey Everyone! We are sorry it has taken us forever to update the blog. Honestly, we have been having too much fun. We finished up in Germany a couple days ago, and now we are in Switezerland. We leave Zurich today, and head to Interlaken, to experience some extreme sporting!
Germany was incredible, very relaxing! First we met up with my (Courtney) friend Lindsay, in a small southern town called Heidelberg. Our trip from Paris to Heidelberg was very interesting. We took our first overnight train, and did not sleep at all. We met a very intelligent Harvard Grad, named Carl. The three of us stayed up most the night talking about God and philosophy. It was really cool, and it was fun to meet yet another new friend. We arrived to Heidelberg a little after 5 am, exausted, dirty and worn down. Lindsay took incredible care of us though, and after a shower and a nap, we were ready to go out. We have learned to appreciate sleep and cleanliness, on this trip. We met up with Lindsays friends, went out to dinner and saw the town, which is realy cool by the way. Its pretty much a city built into the hills, with a big castle, and lots of cool architecture.
After a few days in Heidelberg, we headed to Weingarten, Germany, where we met up with Susannah's friend Meg. Meg lived at the very top of the highest hill in the city. Climbing that with our packs made for quite an adventure, and a work out. The veiw from her room was beautiful, she lives right next to the biggest baroque basillica in Europe (we think). She took us to see Lake Constance, which was beautiful, and we ate gelatto by the lake and went hunting for Birkenstocks (they are really cheap in Germany). However, neither of us found a pair we liked, so we left without new shoes. Suz bought a gorgeous new dress though! We met a few new german friends when we played foozball at the university. Vito (half italian half german) and Hanze( Meghann, I really hope you are reading this!)... very, very interesting people.
So now we are in Zurich, which is a pretty cool town, with a beautiful lake (lake Zurich) and a great view of the swiss alps. We stayed in our first hostel, and it was clean, nice and we felf very safe. Our roommates were all female, and all nice. The city is not quite as exciting as we hoped, but the old city architecture is very charming. The meals have been the best part. Very fun food. My favorite was this creative vegetarian place called, tibits (Lauren, you would LOOOVVEEE this!). Mostly just fruits and veggies, all served interesting ways. We had fodue for dinner, which is a pretty big deal to the Swiss, incase you all didn't know. We really liked it. Suz checked out all the old churches, which was apparently incredible. Also, we met a guy from Louisville, isn't that crazy! What a small world. We are heading to Interlaken now, we will write soon. We love and miss all of you!
