Bonjour Mes amis! Sooooo, we are in paris and we have been here just a little over 24 hours and we are already leaving! Already, you say? Well, you'd be amazed at how much you can do in 24 hours, especially when your plans (the Louvre) are deterred (it was closed today! who knew the Louvre even closed at all!!!?). So we walked ALL over Paris today (like probably 10 miles) well that might be a slight exaggeration but we did walk a TON (courtney says it really was 10).
We started at the Louvre, which we left when we realized that it was closed. Then, as we wondered across the bridge over the Seine we were stopped by a very interesting man who wanted money (by interesting we mean dirty, gross, smelly and slightly scary). He put a ring on courtney's finger then kissed her hand a few times, THEN told us he needed money for food. We tried to give him our apples b ut he didn't want them. He ended up being a little too touchy with Courtney and then we ran away. (on a side note, i dont know why they all seem to like courtney more than me but its funny to watch-- i think its the extra-blond hair) :) on another note, the higher class men seem to like me.
After walking to most of Paris' centrally located main attractions (the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Les Pyramides and other stuff) we walked forever trying to find the shopping street, then shopped until we literally dropped. Courtney got her bag (its SOO cute) and I found a fun skirt! We then found the Eiffel Tower and ate ice cream under it. Its an amazing structure.
Oh, our hotel was nice but we thought when it said "with shower" that meant that we had a bathroom, but in fact it meant that there was a tiny shower in the corner of our room.
We have successfully mastered the art of the metro system...I say that quite proudly considering that this city is HUGE, aaaaand no one speaks english. We have both had good practice using the small amounts of french that we remember but its actually been quite fun!
In about an hour we are taking a night train to Heidelberg, Germany where we will stay with Courtney's friend Lindsay and play.
Please leave us messeges and photo comments...we REALLY look forward to them! We love you!
