Vientiane was stange. We finally found an ok place to stay and I shared a room with Crazy Stephanie and Nike. The place was packed as there was a festival to celebrate the end of the monsoon season. Vientiane was so French.. as a French colony you would expect it to be but I wouldnt believe how heavily influenced everything was. We had a great dinner in a French owned restaurant and wandered around. The streets were so packed of people, it did get a tad annoying to be honest. I even bumped into Jay who I had saved tubing! We ended the night with a drink in one of the cafes but we were all so tired we crashed out..good job as I was flying to Vietnam the next afternoon and wanted to feel a bit fresher than dead!
Breakfast was amazing and it couldn't have got more French. French Stephanie and I went to a French Boulangerie where we had pain au chocolat and french coffee. It was just gorgeous and made both of us smile like chesire cats! We had a little wander after breakfast and Stephanie decided to book herself on my flight to Hanoi that afternoon. We had a couple of hours to kill before we had to go to the airport and both of us were fed up of sight seeing so we decided to go for a Lao massage..big mistake. Lao massage is like thai massage so I thought it would be really goood for me as my muscles felt as screwed up as a used tissue. This girl hurt me so much, I was bruised and I felt like I'd be in the boxing ring with Mike Tyson for 5 rounds. After that b***h was done we went for lunch over looking hte river and I finally had fab Lao cuisine. We had fresh fish with lao salad and it was truely gorgeous. We hopped in a tuk tuk and went to the 'international' airport which was tiny and had 2 departure gates! I decided to fly Vietnam Airways as Lao Airways are so dangerous they dont even publish their crash statistics! If I hadnt have flown it would have been around 30 hours on the bus. It was the least painful journey I have ever had. So stress free, no border problems or bribes to pay... 45 mins in the air and that was that..Vietnam here I come!!!
