Vientiane was stange. We finally found an ok place to stay and I shared a room with Crazy Stephanie and Nike. The place was packed as there was a festival to celebrate the end of the monsoon season. Vientiane was so French.. as a French colony you would expect it to be but I wouldnt believe how heavily influenced everything was. Vang Vieng... What a place! It was pouring with rain when we got there and the storm was out of control! Upon arrival into the town I was astounded by the amount of bars playing 'Friends' and 'Family Guy.' After 2 days on the slow boat...slow being the operative word I finally arrived in Luang Prabang. Don't be fooled in thinking that this place would be like a poverty stricken hole of a place it is one of the most beautiful little places I have ever seen. It just oozes charm and character. All I can say about the slow boat is OH MY GOD! After lugging all our bags down to the river we were presented with a long wooden boat crammed with people sitting on wooden benches... it was so hilarious as we were to spend 2 whole days on this boat, just stopping over night in a small village called Pak Beng.
