We was only going to stay here for the night as we had a massive journey the next day to get to a place called the four thousand islands (, this is right down south of Laos it would involve talking an overnight bus 12hours then a 2 hour bus journey to chapsake where we would stay the night before moving on in the morning again.
We arrived early evening so we got ourselves into our guest room there we met up with Claire, and a Canadian girl called Shauna they didn't Kayak down they caught the bus.
We freshened up and made our way to a locally recommended curry house i have to admit the food was fantastic we all ate far to much..
Myself and Paul had an early night as did the rest of the guys, we had time to kill the next day as we wasn't traveling till 20.00, me and Paul decided we would have some pampering i had a shave and a manicure (never had one before but it was ok) Paul had a pedicure and Manicure the girls doing it thought it was hilarious.. i have to admit we both had our nails painted as a laugh but don't tell anyone.
We had to say Bye to Lindsey and Paddy as they was of to bangkok Paddy was heading to Koh Samui and Lind's was flying home on the Saturday.
The rest of us Paul, Lisa, Claire, Jenny, Emma, and last but not least Shauna waited around to be picked up from our guest room and be taken to the bus terminal.. The bus we would travel on over night was a double decker it was really smart apart from it played Laos karaoke tunes. anyway we all sat around and played the i pod game you had to guess what the person next to you was listening to all they could do was hum the tune it was a great laugh the girls loved it.
We arrived in Paske around 6 in the morning we had to wait around till half 8 for a long boat to take us down the river to Champasake, our guest house overlooked the Mekong river, the accommodation was basic but it was only somewhere to get your head down.
The Reason we came to Chapasake was to visit Wat Phu This was a temple built around 9th century during the Angkor Watt reign, the temple was still in quite good condition the real temple to see is in Cambodia this is where i will head eventually.
We had a walk around and waited for the sun to set the views were breath taking..
We headed back to the village where we was staying we had to eat before 10 as the electricity would go out then.
In the morning we headed to The four thousand Islands (Don Det) by boat, the place got its name because the Mekong river splits into little island, people in-habit some of the bigger island they live in wooden shacks and use the Mekong as a source for there food ETC, there is also a wonderful waterfall and rare, Irrawaddy dolphins can be found further down as well.
We eventually arrived at a little island called Don Det the accommodation was extremely basic it had a bed and a toilet, me and Paul shared there was just enough room to swing a cat in LOL....
The locals was really friendly and made us feel really welcome there is no electricity here but they do run a generator from 6 till 10 at night this gives them lights and cooking facilities ETC.
We headed of to the waterfall and the Beach where we would try and get a boat to see the dolphins.
Unfortunately it started to rain so we couldn't get out on the boats, so we headed to the waterfalls these was spectacular we got some great photo's.
Once we had walked back to the Village we grabbed some food, we all chatted about where we was heading next, Myself Shauna, Claire was heading into Cambodia Lisa was of to china so she needed to be in Bangkok and Paul Emma & Jenny was of to Krabi in Thailand..
And guess what someone came up with the idea of heading to The fall moon Party in Thailand, The party was going to be on the 1st May they was celebrating the 25th birthday.
We work out that we would have the following journey ahead of us
3 hour journey to Pakse, Bus trip to Na Pon Train station 4 hours Overnight train to Bangkok 14 hours flight from bangkok to Phnom Krom 1hour, then a boat to Kho Sumuai 2 hours...
In all we would be traveling for around 32 hours and all this for a party we must have been mad LOL...
We would leave around eleven the next day.
