Today we did an early 1hour cruise on Corroboree Billabong which was quite good, saw several salt water crocs & lots of bird life. We had lunch at the Humpty Doo Pub then on to Darwin. We set up camp at the Discovery Caravan Park opposite the pool. At 11.45 we drove to the Airport to pick up My favourite Mother in Law (-: Lorna. Lorna is staying with us in Darwin for a couple weeks.

We set up camp at the Lakeside Resort CV Park then went for a drive around town, not a lot here so back to the Park for a swim in the pool. At 5pm we drove 40km out to Ubirr & checked out more rock art & watched the sunset it is quite a spectacular site. The next day we headed back towards Darwin on the Arnhem highway, we came across a large Olive Python that had been run over, a real shame it was a beautiful snake. We stayed the night at a bush camp called Mardugal, left the van there then headed back to Maguk waterhole. A pretty rough road in but definitely worth the drive. It was a 1 km walk along the riverbed then a beautiful large deep clear water hole with the falls at the other end. We dropped off our van at the Mary River Roadhouse & drove into Kakadu. Our first stop was Gunlom Falls, the bottom pool & falls was closed due to a large salty croc sighting the day before. We climbed about 600m to the next pool it was quite amazing, a large natural infinity pool looked out over the escarpment below, there were several good swimming holes here.

We left Mataranka stayed a couple of nights in Katherine then on to Edith Falls 60km North. This place has changed a lot since our last visit, there were showers & toilets & a kiosk although no powered sites. Edith falls is a lovely spot, a large pool at the bottom of the falls & several pools & more falls at the top. We stayed here 2 nights.
