Oct 26 We left early for our trip to Monument Valley which straddles the Arizona/Utah border. The entire park is on native land. Our admission fee included a drive through the monuments and we also gained access to the restricted back area of the park for an additional fee. There is no hiking in the park. Oct 14 We left Ami's Acres Campground and headed west towards Grand Junction. We decided to stay west of Grand Junction in the James Robb State Park in Fruita. October 12 We adventured again to the Continental Divide, heading south from Glenwood Springs through Aspen and then up from 7,900 ft to 12,000 ft. At the Continental Divide, there was a hike that took you across the crest of three peaks. We were a bit disappointed that the elk didn't return for a farewell visit to our campsite, but it was time to make our way west. Almost immediately upon leaving our campground, we headed west through the RMNP on the Trail Ridge Road.
