Oct 25 We left Moab heading south, our plan was to go to the Needles section of Canyonlands. But we weren't sure how the day would be with our trailer in tow, so we continued on south. The terrain here has changed greatly from what we've seen the past couple of weeks, as in many places all of the top layers of red rock have been eroded over millions of years. What is left are the underlying layers of igneous rock, topped with soil and trees, mostly evergreen....

Oct 18 We left Fruita and were in Utah within 15 miles. The landscape changed almost instantly. As beautiful as everything has been on this trip, it seemed like a warm-up for Utah. The road we were driving on was fairly flat, but on both sides we had mountains and large mesas. We took the back road into Moab, Hwy 128, and ended up driving alongside the Colorado River in a very deep canyon with deep red, very sheer cliffs. Our arrival was somewhat delayed du...
