Well after a loooooong journey, we´ve finally reached the Atlantic coast, at a place called Paraty. We set off at 5am from Bonito on Sunday morning, and the original plan was to drive until about 9pm, then free camp on the side of the road, then set off early today (monday) to arrive in Paraty in the afternoon. However, it pissed down ALL day yesterday so by the time it got to night time no one was very excited about having to set their tents up in the pitch black and storms. So Alex (our mega cool driver) stopped at a service station at about 9 so we could all stock up on food etc (it was the biggest and poshest service station i have EVER seen in my life by the way - they even had a massive fish tank in there, and the nicest toilets we´ve seen in 7 weeks), then he decided he was just gonna carry on driving and we could all sleep on the truck on the way, wahoo!
So anyway, we ended up stopping on the coast before Paraty at about 4am so Alex could get some sleep. We all carried on sleeping until the sun came up, and we woke up to find that we were on the nicest beach EVER!!!!! We all literally jumped up at about 7am and ran into the ocean, it was soooooo nice. It was 30 degrees outside by 9am and the water was lovely, not even cold. We chilled there for a bit, then carried on the last couple of hours to Paraty.
Paraty is a nice little colonial town with cobbled street, etc. We´re gonna go shopping tomorrow cos there´s loads of cool looking clothes shops (i´ve bought some stuff already...oops), then the next day is our last excursion, but one of the best apparently - an all day booze cruise and buffet on the ocean around all these little islands, cant wait.
Also, i´ve just been reading Alison´s blog thing and i´ve got a feeling she is here somehwere, but only til tomorrow! So i´m keeping an eye out for her, be cool to bump into her early.
