MayYoke was my new flight best friend... I didn't even attempt some of the Chinese words, but her English was very good... I understood her when she said" you don't look older enough to have 19 year old children"!! It was though, probably the the worst flight ever...
So we land at a cloudy Auckland and I am just so excited. After picking up my little "Gal611" TIIDA car, (Gal611 being my number plate) it was time to head up to North shore and visit Heidi... What should have taken 40 minutes actually ended up taking 4 hours... Yes my map skills had not improved and I was lost!! So I decided to head back to the airport and start again but visit the local electrical store to buy a phone with GPS. A bargain at $70 except I can't work the bloomin thing, but it had a map and I was on my way. So I'm heading over the harbour bridge and "Desperado" by the Eagles comes on the radio... How spooky... Not only was I in desperado but it's not a popular radio song to be playing and was also my Dad's favourite!! I knew then he had my back...
Was a lovely sight to see Heidi and her mum "Nanny" it was a quick change and then off to Waiheke Island for the afternoon. I was so happy on the ferry over as my sister and nieces had spent 5 years living there. What a beautiful place. I hunted for their fish & chip shop and yes ended up with a vino & Thai lunch instead. Then off down to the beach for a stroll and taking in the lovely views. Although cloudy, but stupidly no sun cream and yes got slightly burnt!!!
My jet lag had started to kick in, but was determined to go the local pub for quiz night. We stopped off at the local supermarket to get a few groceries, where yes I end up chatting up the "old boy" cashier and laughing and giggling with him... So much so, my $14.00 food bill ended up me being in a profit of yes $36.... That why I'm in finance...
So yes after a few smirnoff's, bbq lamb & salad, my head finally hit the pillow...
