Claire's Travels
Hi Everyone!
Ok firstly I promised Alex that I would put this photo up. Apparently (according to Alex) this was the best view we had seen throughout the whole trip. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Well the day started nice and early. I dont think we were quite prepared for the unbelievably cold temperature!! The advantage to being the only girls in the car...the guys felt that they should give us the blanket.
Our first stop that day were the geysers - one of which was man made but the others were all natural. At this point, we were higher than Mount Blanc (not bad eh?) but it was hard to appreciate when we thought that are fingers and toes were about to drop off. It was literally jump out of the car, take a photo and leap back in. The guys were a little more hardy and manged to stay out at least a couple of minutes longer.
The sunrise was pretty cool - the colours of the sky were constantly changing. I tried to capture them on camera but I dont think I really did it justice.
Our next stop was Lagoon Verde. We actually drove up to another lagoon which we thought was it and were a little disappointed when it wasnt green at all, only to then realise that it was actually the one behind. The colour of the lagoon was really nice. You just wanted to leap into it...except for the fact that there was ice on parts of it.
One of our final destinations were the hot springs. When we got there quite a few people were already in it. It was a damn shame that we had forgotten our swim wear. It did look really nice and warm though but the thought of having to get out of it afterwards, into the cold wasnt a huge positive. After the guys had dried themselves off and had eaten breakfast we were on the road again, heading for San Pedro. This is where they were going to cross into Chile.
We decided another group photo was required (you can never have to many!) and as we were sorting it out Sander piped up and said 'I believe we have already had one of these'...we were close to saying that we didnt actually want him in it but thought that would be a little rude. Also we had to share a car with him for the next 7 or so hours back to Uyuni so we thought we should keep the peace.
Once we had said goodbye we were back on the road, back to Uyuni. Thankfully the car only stopped a few times. We were slightly concerned that we might have to spend a night in Hicksville...sorry Uyuni.
Once safely back we quickly sorted out our ticket back to La Paz. At one point we thought we werre stuck until the morning as there were no cash machines etc but one guy thankfully gave us some cash back, charging us 10% for his time. (At this point I think we would have paid anything).
Back on the bus we settled down for yet another long bus journey back to the glorious city of La Paz. Wow it really does get better and better.....
All in all, this trip has to be one of the best times I've had so far! The views were absolutely amazing - much better than I thought they would ever be and the people were really great! If you ever happen to be in Bolivia (or unfortunatey in Uyuni), it is definately worth a trip.
