Claire's Travels
Well we arrived back into La Paz at 5am which was lovely. We went into the bus station to sort out a direct bus to Lima as we've decided that we want to fly back to Buenos Aires early as we love it so much! Unfortunately none of the booths opened until around 8am, So we sat down and tried to entertain ourselves. Thankfully an internet place opened as we were getting fed up with the local old women who clearly hadnt washed for at least a few decades, hanging around and grabbing us, hoping that we would give them some money. I would have happily donated if I knew it was going towards a bar of soap but I wasnt toally convinced.
Fianlly a booth opened and we got ourselves booked onto a 'direct' bus to Lima. She explained that there would be one change in Puno (seriously that bloody place, why do we always end up there!). The journey would take approx 26hrs - oh its all good fun this travelling milarky!
Well after buying some essential snacks (you never know when you are next going to get food or water on these things) we boarded the 'direct' bus. Well like most things in South America the information we had been given wasnt quite accurate. We ended up stopping in Copacabana and changing buses, after waiting an hour or so. Then changing again in Puno. Fianlly on our third bus and yes it is going to Lima but its got to go through Arequipa and all around the houses before we get there. So I can now understand why it takes 26 hrs.
Once there we headed back to The Point Hostal, where we had stayed before. Unfortunately they only had massive dorms and we decided that we would quite like a place to oursleves, so we found a little B&B - very nice.
We will be staying here for the next few days until we can sort out our flight back to Buenos Aires.
