So we started off this morning and headed to Franz Josef. We stopped off for some breakfast at a place called Pukekura at the Bushman's centre which was known for its homemade Possom Pies - safe to say we gave that one a miss!! Soa fter filling our tummys with food we hit the road again through to Franz Josef. When we arrived there we stopped at the Franz Josef Glacier guide office and paid off our glacier activities for the following day, we were doing the full day hike! We then headed to the hostel for the night where we cooked dinner and watched 40 Year Old Virgin, before heading to bed for an early night.

The next morning we were up at the crack of dawn (yet again). We headed into town to the Glacier office ready for our 8 hour hiking day! We got our waterproof jackets and pants, hats, gloves and boots and spikes and headed onto the bus up to the start of the glacier. We set off and got on the ice and had an amazing time. Josh our guide was sick of us complaining (he promised us lunch for over two hours) but we know he loved it really - a group of mostly girls? come on!!!! But then we found out he is only 19 so we felt abit bad. After climbing ladders and over rocks etc we reached the bottom of teh glacier and put our spikes (crampons) on and hit the ice! We climbed artificial steps out of ice, slid down some small passages and even had teh chance of going in some ice caves. Was a wicked day! Safe to say we were absolutely exhausted (and suprise suprise Loz had fallen and cut her knee) so we went out for a few drinks that night before hitting bed ready for our early start to Wanaka the following day!
