We waited around town until about 2pm when we finally got the call we had been waiting for. Frank had survived the tranmission transplant, he was a fighter and he pulled through! The mechanic came and picked us up and put us back on the road obviously after we had paid at which point we are sure that we heard the credit card actually scream with pain when it was put throught the machine.
We had planned to camp at a site just North of Brisbane but as we were getting very lost on the motorways we got a phone call from Charlotte. She was in Brisbane allready, staying with friends and we had planned to meet up with her tomorrow, but she said that we were more than welcome to come round and camp in the back garden. Not ones to pass up an offer of free accomodation we found our way to the house. she was staying at. Not one's to pass up offers of free accomodation we found our way to the house. Here we met Charlotte, after not seeing her for over 6 months! It was great to see a familiar face after so long! Charlotte introduced us to her friends Dayna, Mon, Nick and Kate. They were all really welcoming and made us feel at home. We were also introduced to Oliver Duncan, an 8 month old jet black kitten with liking for mischief and who seemed to be intent on not letting us pitch our tent at all.
After we got set up the 3 of us went to a seafood restaurant down the road. It was 'bring your own' beer so we picked up a cheap box of red wine on the way. The meal was delicious, and it was greatto catch up with Charlotte, it seems she has had an amazing time out here, she's been working on racecourses, stables cattle stations in the outback and seems to have enjoyed every minute.
Charlotte has assured us that she new the way back from the restaurant and that it was only a short walk. It seems though that Charlotte loses here sense of direction after several glasses of red. For quite a while we wandered in circles carrying a now 'nearly empty' box of wine around some suberbs and across patches of grass. We had to give up eventually and flagged down a taxi who took us 5 mins up the road.
We got back and finished off the wine in the tent before we went to bed!
