The Further Adventures of Claire
Oslo was wonderful. Ane's parents were incredibly sweet, and I had a good time talking to them about art, culture, and the differences/similarities between our countries. The audition went really well. At first I had some trouble finding it, so I walked in just as it was supposed to begin. But the man I spoke to at the front table happened to be the artistic director, and he was nice enough to wait for me to get dressed before begining class.
It was a very long audition (6 hours in total) with a full ballet class, some rep and improv. I was kept until the very end, and then the director announced that they weren't actually hiring anyone at the moment.
He said that he would keep our information and if anything happened he would contact us right away, but I'm not expecting anything. It was very gratifying that the director really got to know the way that I danced and thought that I was company material, even if he wasn't able to hire me at this time. Plus, I got a free ballet class and the chance to improv with some excellent dancers. So, I don't mind so much that they didn't let me know that they weren't hiring. Also, since they weren't holding call-backs, I got to spend all day Sunday wandering around Oslo with Truls and Liv. We went up the mountain to the famos ski jump, and had hot chocolate in a ski hut built in the 1860's. We also visited a beautiful park dedicated to Gustav Vigeland (an incredible sculpter). Of course one weekend is not enough to really get a feeling for Oslo, but I really enjoyed myself and feel like it is a place I must return to in the future.
