Today was a rest day, with the intention of going up the Tramway to get a view into Mexico, but apparently this has been shut down recently for safety reasons. Oops. As such, Matt and Katie wanted to get some shopping done and we went to a factory outlet as it was after Black Friday. Sue and I walked around the shops, looking, without finding anything in particular. We had given the twins 1 1/2 hours to look and when they returned they were both carrying multiple bags. Apparently the clothes were a lot cheaper than in Perth.
After this Matt REALLY wanted to visit a Walmart (no, I have no idea why) and so we dropped into one. They are huge things, a kind of Big W, Target, bank, pharmacy, Woolworths and fast food outlet all thrown together. We did manage to grab a few essentials for the drive tomorrow and then thought that we would head back to the hotel for a rest before heading off to dinner.
However...
Next door to the hotel was a shooting range, and as we are never likely to get the same chance in WA, dropped in. “Hi, we’re Australians and have no idea about guns. Can we fire some?” No problems, what would you like to fire? Ummm. Well, my wife has little strength in her fingers. Ok, a .22. The rest of us would like something heavier. Ok, we have a P90 with 50 shots. Sounds good to us. We spent the next hour shooting at targets with the only concern being when Katie was nature and proceeded to turn around a face us with a live pistol. The range officer was not too impressed.
We had seen that lots of comments had been made about the Cattleman’s Steakhouse, which was about 30 miles south of town, so off we went. It was an I,posing hacienda style building, completely converted into a restaurant. As you walked in you were given a view of all of the cuts of meat available. So far, so good. Katie went with a 10oz ribeye, I had the 12oz. Sue had a smaller fillet atd Matt went with the ribs. Half a cow! It came as 9 massive ribs, and although the rest of us finished our meal, Matt only managed 5 of the ribs and a couple of chips!
