As today was going to be a shorter drive, even with our Walking Dead tour, we managed to sleep in a bit today. We again went across the road for breakfast as it seemed a better choice all round rather than the hotel. Sustained, we went to pick up our car from the valet which was located at LL3 (3 level’s below the lobby). The place was a warren, with a multitude of conference rooms spinning off like burrows. Luckily, picking up the car was relatively easy, and once the GPS realised where it was, the drive was fairly straight forward.
We arrived in Senoia (pronounced SEN - oy) and went into the tour office. Our guide arrived several minutes and walked right past us. Not a very auspicious start to the tour. However, the tour was well done, with our guide giving us a complete run down of the studios and their history PRIOR to the Walking Dead and other things happening around the area at the same time. The number of films coming out of the area makes it the number one movie area in the USA; apparently it’s now called ‘Y’ally-wood’.
Anyhow, we got taken around the town of Senoia and got to see all of the areas, parking lots, lanes, gardens, shops etc that were used in this season or that season of the show. Our guide knew every episode and season that we looked at, as well as many other facts of the area. The fact that most of the houses being used in the show are currently being lived in was a surprise to us.
After over 2 hours of walking we moved on to Savannah, and arrived here early enough to get showered and headed out to The Pirate House, a restaurant that Sue and I remembered from the last time we were here. Once again, the serving size of the meal defeated all of us, and we certainly appreciated the walk back to the hotel.
